A Body-Space Correlation Model: Computing Micro Postures for Interactive Façade Design in Workspace

Abstract

Human-centered design has emerged as a dominant paradigm in contemporary design practice. Under this principle, the workspace—an important environment embedded in daily life—has gained growing attention, particularly regarding its façade system as a potential medium for responding dynamically to human physical and psychological needs. This study establishes a bidirectional mapping mechanism between human micro postures and façade-control parameters to construct a body–space correlation model, enabling active interventions targeting working states while optimizing façade configurations through real-time feedback. Through mixed-reality experiments, the study establishes two conversion relationships: the first between micro postures and working states, and the second between working states and façade openness. Using working states as the medium, an interactive system for office façades is constructed through computational micro-posture analysis and validated in mixed reality.
